When you send an enquiry, we collect your name, email address, and anything else you choose to tell us, such as where you are travelling from, how many of you there are and which departure interests you. We use it to reply to you and to talk through whether the trip is right for you. Our lawful basis is legitimate interest: you have asked us a question and we are answering it.
If you sign up to Field Notes, we collect your email address and use it to send photographs, notes on field craft and occasional safari updates. MailerLite manages signup, email confirmation, delivery and unsubscribe records for us. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email. Browser preferences prevent repeated invitations: dismissals last 30 days, a displayed invitation is remembered for the tab session, and a submitted signup is remembered until browser storage is cleared, without storing your email address in these preferences.
If you go on to book, we collect the information we need to run your safari and to meet our legal obligations as a package holiday organiser: your full name, contact details, passport details, travel insurance details, and any dietary requirements or medical information you choose to share with us. Our lawful basis is performance of a contract, and for some of it, legal obligation.
We do not collect payment card details. There is no checkout on this site. Deposits and balances are paid by bank transfer.
Our ground operator in Botswana, so they can run your safari. Only what they need, and only once you have booked.
Our insurers and professional advisers, where required.
Our website and email providers, who process data on our behalf under contract. If you permit analytics, Google also processes website usage data for us through Google Analytics. With both analytics and advertising measurement permission, Google measurement can help attribute visits and accepted enquiries to Google ads. We do not send your enquiry text, name, email address or telephone number to Google measurement, and we do not use enhanced conversions or a Meta pixel.
With heatmaps and recordings permission, Microsoft also processes website interaction data through Clarity. Form contents are masked, and Microsoft advertising remains off.
We do not sell your information to anyone, and we do not share your enquiry or booking information for marketing purposes. Optional Google advertising measurement is described below.
Enquiries that do not lead to a booking: two years, then deleted.
Booking records: seven years after the trip, as required for tax and insurance purposes.
Field Notes subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
Our website and email providers may process information in the UK, the European Economic Area and other countries. If you permit analytics, Google may process website usage data outside the UK, including in the United States; with both measurement permissions, this may also include Google advertising attribution data. We also share the booking details needed to run your safari with our ground operator in Botswana. International transfers are subject to the relevant provider agreements and applicable data protection safeguards.
Microsoft may process Clarity data outside the UK, including in the United States. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement for its processing and international transfer safeguards.
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it, object to how we are using it, or ask us to restrict what we do with it. Email us and we will respond within one month.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.
We use Framer to run this website, including its built in website analytics without cookies. Optional Google Analytics measures visits, how visitors find the site, pages viewed and enquiries confirmed as accepted by our form service. With analytics permission, cookies called _ga and _ga_T5K11DRFDP distinguish browsers and measure sessions. They expire after 90 days, without renewed expiry on use.
Advertising measurement separately permits Google advertising storage and advertising user data. Attributing visits and accepted enquiries to Google ads requires both permissions; analytics alone does not permit advertising measurement. Advertising permission alone temporarily retains Google click evidence in this tab, but sends no visit or enquiry events and loads no Google script. Google Signals, advertising personalisation and personalised advertising remain off.
With analytics permission, oss_campaign_v1 session storage keeps campaign labels, the landing page path and referring website domain as you browse. Each record expires after 30 minutes or when the tab session ends. These details are delivered in hidden fields with any enquiry you submit so we can understand which marketing led to it.
With advertising permission, Google click identifiers gclid, gbraid and wbraid are retained in oss_google_click_v1 session storage for 30 minutes in this tab. They are not included in enquiry emails or custom analytics event payloads. Entry URL evidence may be held temporarily in memory before permission, but click identifiers are not persisted before advertising permission.
SHA256 consumed markers in oss_google_click_seen_v1 remain until advertising permission is withdrawn or the tab session ends. Their sole purpose is to prevent expired click identifiers being revived.
Heatmaps and recordings
With recording permission, Microsoft Clarity records clicks, scrolling and page navigation, with form contents masked. It also receives page and referral URLs, browser and device information, and approximate location derived from the connection. This helps us understand how visitors use the site and improve it. Microsoft advertising remains denied.
Cookies called _clck and _clsk identify browsers and connect page views into recordings. Campaign labels may appear in recorded page URLs; Google click identifiers in those URLs require advertising permission as well as recording permission. We do not send names, email addresses or enquiry messages as custom tags or identifiers to Clarity.
Microsoft documents 30 days for ordinary playback data and nine months for heatmaps and click data. Labelled or favourited recordings are retained for nine months. These periods are separate from the consent preference stored on this device.
The cookie panel offers three separate optional choices: analytics, advertising measurement, and session recordings. All default to off, with Reject all, Accept all and separate preferences. Choices last up to 180 days; recording permission is stored separately in oss_clarity_consent_v1. Previous Google acceptance does not authorise recordings, and recording permission does not grant Google measurement permission.
Use Cookie settings at the bottom of any page to change or withdraw any choice. Rejection or withdrawal clears the relevant campaign or click storage, consumed markers and accessible Google or Clarity cookies set by this site. Where the withdrawn code has already loaded, the page reloads to remove it.
Withdrawal stops measurement for the withdrawn purpose after the page reloads; a final delivery of previously collected Clarity data may occur during unloading. Data already sent cannot be recalled. No Google script is initiated before analytics permission, and no Clarity script is initiated before recording permission. Provider cookies may have separate lifetimes.
You can use the site and send enquiries without any optional permission. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings.
